The Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving referral growth and expanding market presence through strategic relationship development and data-informed outreach initiatives. This role analyzes referral trends, identifies growth opportunities, and develops targeted engagement strategies to increase referral volume across assigned markets.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Business Development Specialist exercises independent judgment in prioritizing referral sources, determining outreach strategies, and aligning efforts with organizational growth objectives. This role partners closely with operational and clinical leadership to influence market performance and support business expansion.
Minimum Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required
Strong preference for candidates with a Physical Therapy degree or clinical background.
Experience
2-5 years of experience in business development, healthcare marketing, or related field Experience analyzing data and making strategic recommendations preferred.
Physical Requirements
Requires prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, and stretching. Involves minimal lifting, pushing, and pulling, typically up to 15-20 pounds. Requires sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, telephone, copier, calculator, and other standard office equipment. Must have the ability to hear and see within a normal range to prepare, review, and present reports. This role requires frequent local travel, up to 50% of the time, including regular visits to clinic locations, physician offices, hospitals, and other referral sources to support relationship development and business growth initiatives. Occasional overnight travel may be required based on business needs.

Minimum Position Requirements
- Analyze referral data, market trends, and provider activity to identify opportunities for growth and optimization
- Develop and execute targeted business development strategies for assigned territory based on data insights and market dynamics
- Independently prioritize referral sources and determine the most effective engagement approach
- Build and manage relationships with physicians, clinics, and community partners to drive referral growth
- Evaluate effectiveness of outreach efforts and adjust strategies to improve performance and outcomes
- Collaborate with Clinic Directors and Regional Leadership to align business development strategies
- Identify new partnership opportunities and assess potential impact to the business
- Provide regular insights, reporting, and recommendations to leadership regarding referral trends and growth opportunities
- Represent the organization in the community and act as a strategic liaison between referral sources and internal teams
- Exercises discretion in managing daily activities, territory planning, and outreach prioritization
- Determines which referral relationships to focus on and how to engage them to drive results
- Develops and adjusts strategies based on performance data and evolving market conditions
- Provides recommendations that influence regional growth initiatives and business decisions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
